About Me

I am a Research Associate at the National Research Council Canada, working on AI Safety projects as part of the Canadian AI Safety Institute. In light of recent events, my thoughts on AI Safety.

I graduated with a PhD in Computer Science in 2024 from the University of Toronto, where I was part of the [Computational Linguistics group](https://www.cs.toronto.edu/compling/), supervised by [Graeme Hirst](http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~gh/) and [Frank Rudzicz](http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~frank/). My PhD projects focused on modelling variation in language use as a function of speaker identity, a research area that falls at the intersection of natural language processing, sociolinguistics, and cognitive science (thesis [here](https://www.cs.toronto.edu/pub/gh/Vishnubhotla-PhD-thesis-2024.pdf)!).

I like language.
